Ultherapy is usually quoted as one session, priced by the area treated and the lines delivered. That makes it unusual among skin tightening treatments, most of which are sold as a series. The manufacturer states that most patients see meaningful results after just one session, so the price you are quoted is normally the whole plan rather than the first installment. Here is what sits inside that number, how it shifts by area, and why two quotes for the same face can differ by hundreds of dollars.

The essentials
- Most Ultherapy patients see meaningful results after just one session, per Merz Aesthetics, so the quote usually covers the full plan.
- Treatment takes about 30 to 90 minutes depending on the area, and there is no downtime.
- Ultimate results take place over two to three months, because the treatment works by stimulating new collagen.
- The ASPS does not publish an average cost for microfocused ultrasound, which is exactly why provider quotes vary so widely.
- Ultherapy is available at three of our seven locations: Tampa, King of Prussia and Bellevue.
How much does Ultherapy cost?
There is no single national number, and anyone quoting one is estimating. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons publishes averages for neighboring categories, $697 for laser skin treatments and $1,829 for skin resurfacing, but neither of those is microfocused ultrasound, and the ASPS cost pages do not carry an average for it. Treat any figure you see online as a provider’s own pricing, not an industry benchmark.
What you can pin down is the structure. Ultherapy is quoted per treated area for a single session, and the two levers inside that are the size of the area and the amount of ultrasound energy delivered across it. A brow lift is a small, fast treatment. A full face with neck is a long one. That is most of the spread.
What is included in the price of an Ultherapy session?
In most plans, the quote covers one complete session for the named area, which is the full course for the majority of patients. That is the key difference from treatments priced per session across a series: with Ultherapy you are usually buying the plan, not an entry point.
It should also cover the consultation and mapping, the treatment itself at 30 to 90 minutes depending on area, and a follow up to assess results once collagen has had time to develop. There is no downtime to budget around, and the manufacturer states that patients can resume normal activities immediately, so there is no lost time to price in either.
What is not included is any second session. Some patients choose a touch up later, and a maintenance treatment down the line is a separate cost. Ask whether the quote is per area or per session, because for Ultherapy those two framings usually mean the same thing and occasionally do not. Our complete Ultherapy guide covers the mechanism and the treatment experience in more depth.
What does Ultherapy cost by area?
Price tracks the cleared indications, because those define what is actually being treated. The manufacturer lists Ultherapy PRIME as FDA cleared to lift the eyebrow, the skin on the neck and under the chin, to improve lines and wrinkles on the décolleté, and to improve the appearance of skin laxity on the abdomen, anterior arms, posterior arms and knees. Anything outside that list is off label and should be presented to you as such.
| Area | What the FDA clearance covers | Relative treatment size | Sessions typically needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brow | Lift the eyebrow | Smallest, shortest session | Usually one |
| Under the chin and neck | Lift the skin on the neck and under the chin | Mid size, commonly requested together | Usually one |
| Décolleté | Improve lines and wrinkles on the décolleté | Mid size, distinct indication | Usually one |
| Abdomen and knees | Improve the appearance of skin laxity | Larger body areas | Usually one |
| Anterior and posterior arms | Improve the appearance of skin laxity | Paired, so effectively two areas | Usually one per side |
Cleared indications and the one session expectation come from Merz Aesthetics. Session length across all areas is the manufacturer’s 30 to 90 minute range, and pricing per area for your location is confirmed at consultation.
A full face is not a single cleared indication. It is a combination of areas, which is why “full face” quotes differ so much between clinics: two providers can both be honest and still be describing different maps. Ask which specific areas are included.
Why does the price vary so much between providers?
Four reasons, and only one of them is margin. The first is the number of ultrasound lines delivered, which is the real unit of treatment: more lines across an area means more energy, more time and a higher cost, and it is the number most quotes never mention. Ask for it.
The second is which areas are bundled under one label, as above. The third is the platform generation, since Ultherapy PRIME is the current system and older platforms are still in use elsewhere. The fourth is market, which is why pricing differs across our own locations in Florida, Pennsylvania and Kentucky.
Here is the practical test for a quote. If a provider cannot tell you which areas are included and roughly how many lines they plan to deliver, you cannot compare their price to anyone else’s, and a lower number may simply mean less treatment.
Is one session enough, or do you need more?
For most patients, one is the plan. Merz Aesthetics states that most Ultherapy PRIME patients see meaningful results after just one session, which is the opposite of how most skin tightening treatments are sold.
The timeline is the part to be patient with. The treatment stimulates the formation of new collagen deep below the skin’s surface, and new collagen and elastin develop gradually, so the ultimate results take place over two to three months. You may see some initial lift before that, but judging the outcome at four weeks is judging it too early. Some patients choose an additional treatment after assessing results at that point, and some return for maintenance after a year or more. Both are separate costs.
How does Ultherapy compare on cost with other skin tightening options?
The comparison is less about the sticker price than about how many appointments sit behind it. A treatment quoted at a lower price per session but requiring a series of four can cost more in total than a single Ultherapy session, and it costs more in time. Conversely, a one session treatment is a bigger single outlay, which is why financing is common for it.
The comparison that matters most is with surgery, and the manufacturer is clear about the boundary: Ultherapy PRIME is not a replacement for a surgical facelift. If your goal is the degree of lift a facelift produces, a nonsurgical ultrasound treatment at any price will disappoint, and that is a candidacy conversation rather than a budget one.
Who is a good candidate, and when is Ultherapy not the right choice?
The best candidates have mild to moderate skin laxity, reasonable skin quality, and the patience for a result that arrives over two to three months rather than two to three days. Collagen response varies between patients, which is the honest reason results vary and cannot be promised in degrees.
Where we will tell you to spend your money elsewhere: if the laxity is advanced, a nonsurgical treatment will not reach it, and a surgical consultation is the straighter answer. If your concern is volume loss rather than looseness, tightening is the wrong lever. And if you need to look different for an event next month, the timeline does not work, because the collagen simply has not developed yet.
Which Esthetica Medspa locations offer Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is available at three of our seven locations: Tampa, Florida, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and Bellevue, Kentucky. It is not offered at our San Antonio, Newark, Lakeland or Louisville locations, so it is worth confirming before you travel for a consultation.
If you are in the Philadelphia suburbs, our Ultherapy in King of Prussia page covers that location specifically, including cost and what to expect. The treatment details and the areas we map are on our Ultherapy service page.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Ultherapy cost?
There is no published national average for microfocused ultrasound, which is why quotes vary so much. Price is set by the area treated and the number of ultrasound lines delivered, quoted as a single session for most patients.
Is Ultherapy a one time treatment?
Usually, yes. Merz Aesthetics states that most Ultherapy PRIME patients see meaningful results after just one session. Some patients add a touch up after assessing results, and maintenance later is a separate cost.
How long does an Ultherapy session take?
About 30 to 90 minutes depending on the area treated, per the manufacturer. There is no downtime, and patients can resume normal activities immediately.
When will I see Ultherapy results?
The ultimate results take place over two to three months, because the treatment works by stimulating new collagen. Some initial lift may be visible earlier. Results vary between patients.
Is Ultherapy as good as a facelift?
No, and the manufacturer says so directly: Ultherapy PRIME is not a replacement for a surgical facelift. It addresses mild to moderate laxity without surgery or downtime, which is a different goal.
Which of your locations offer Ultherapy?
Tampa, King of Prussia and Bellevue. It is not currently offered at our San Antonio, Newark, Lakeland or Louisville locations.
